A local film company has given over 30 people the opportunity to work on an upcoming short film.

Screen Berkshire is an initiative which supports local crew and talent with ‘on set’ training.

Resource Productions, a Community Interest Company based in Slough, is part of the scheme and is providing more the 30 local people with hard-to-find opportunities for paid work and traineeships on a professional short film production.

The project, entitled ‘Kitty Party’, was shot in the Minghella Studios at University of Reading on April 8 and 9.

It is written by Rousha Browning and Shakir Kadir, and is a short situational comedy.

The production has given opportunities to a diverse range of under-represented talent including an amazing all-female cast.

Aligning with Resource Productions’ mission to enable social change through art and film, the production has provided the opportunity for many to step into new roles on a live film production and enable others to secure their first industry credit.

This project has been made possible thanks to national lottery funding and support from the British Film Institute (BFI), University of Reading, Shinfield Studios, Bedlam Film Productions and Berkshire Film Office, as well as Amazon MGM Studios.

Over the next two years Screen Berkshire and all its supporters, will use this ‘Create and Credit’ skills development model to produce more film projects that will up-skill a further 100 freelance crew and new entrants.
