Slough Liberal Democrats have confirmed their MP candidate for the upcoming General Election.
Chelsea Whyte is to stand as a Parliamentary Candidate.
Chelsea currently works as a Senior Public Affairs and Strategic Communications Consultant, advising international businesses across a variety of sectors including energy, manufacturing, legal and finance.
She has previously worked across various levels of government, including for Lib Dem MEP Catherine Bearder in the European Parliament and the Lib Dem Elected Mayor of Watford.
Speaking about her appointment, Chelsea said “I am honoured to be representing the Liberal Democrats in Slough.
"This is an exciting time in politics, with everything to play for.
"The people of Slough made their opinion of the Labour Party clear during the recent Council elections, paving the way for three hard-working Liberal Democrats to join the Council.
“The Liberal Democrats present the voters of Slough with a clear alternative to the stale and untrustworthy politics of the past.
"The Lib Dems have detailed costed plans for investment in vital services, such as the NHS, to improve areas where the Conservative Government has been failing so badly.
"I hope that I can offer people a fresh perspective and the local representation they deserve. I look forward to meeting as many residents as possible over the coming months and helping to affect real change in Slough.”
The Liberal Democrats have stood firm with calling for an immediate bilateral ceasefire since October 2023 to put an end to the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, with hopes to get the hostages home.
Other party pledges include the investment into infrastructure, innovation and skills to create good jobs and prosperity in every UK region and nation.
The Liberal Democrats also want to help people with the cost of living and their energy bills by implementing a proper, one-off windfall tax on the super-profits of oil and gas producers and traders.
Meanwhile, the party also wants to "make taxes fair" by ensuring that tax burdens don’t fall disproportionately on low earners.
Cllr Frank O’Kelly, Chair of Slough Liberal Democrats, added: “Chelsea is a fresh, new voice for our area, with a wealth of experience as a Liberal Democrat campaigner.
"She brings with her the much-needed energy and fresh ideas that will further strengthen the re-building of our party from 2023's successes and help us march ahead of Labour and Tory candidates.
"It’s time we elect someone to Westminster who is community minded and can represent everyone in the town.”
