A man has been put behind bars after be broke into a home and stole a carpet cleaner.
Andrew Wainwright, aged 44, of Newchurch Road, Slough, was jailed for three years at Reading Crown Court on Monday, April 22.
A jury unanimously found Wainwright guilty of one count of burglary, and not guilty of another count of burglary, following a three-day trial.
At around 11.30am on October 22 last year, Wainwright broke into an address in Royston Way and stole a carpet cleaner.
Wainwright initially tried to break-in through the conservatory but could not get into the main part of the address, so left the conservatory and went to the front of the house, where he forced entry.
Following an investigation, Wainwright was arrested three days later and charged the following day.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Anuk Sirisena, based at Slough police station, said: “Burglary is a pernicious offence that can often impact victims long after the offence.
“As this case shows, we are committed to safeguarding our communities by holding offenders to account.”
