MORE than 200 people are objecting to plans to transform the Jolly Woodman into a Hindu temple and now MP Joy Morrisey has joined their calls, saying it would be 'detrimental' to local wildlife.
In contrast, some 100 people have written in support of the proposal, by the venue's new owners Slough charity GB Shri Raghavendra Swami Brundavan.
The pub announced its closure in November after struggling to get back on its feet after the pandemic. It is incredibly sad to see an institution that has operated as a pub since the 19th Century close down. But the truth is, it wasn't making enough money.
Surely seeing the historic building take on a new lease of life is preferable than the alternative - leaving it to become another abandoned eyesore or worse - knocked down altogether for housing.
