From mattresses on street corners to eight-inch potholes, Slough residents have been contending with multiple issues this year.

As council tax is set to rise by 8.5 per cent from next month, one resident has written in with his concerns over litter.

The charity litter picker, who wished not to be named, said: "I am helping to keep this town tidy and clean."

He added that he feels Slough Borough Council is not doing enough to keep the town clean. "Slough looks disgusting, it's unacceptable."

In particular, concern was raised about the litter surrounding the parade of shops on Trelawney Avenue.

Another report of litter stated "litter everywhere on woodland Avenue and Carlisle road".

Meanwhile, other residents are reporting persistent issues with flytipping in the town, including the dumping of a mattress on St Laurence Way adjacent to the junction with Priors Close.

Other areas with flytipping include Wood Lane, Boulters Close and Bruce Close.

However, it isn't just excess rubbish causing problems.

One individual claims an 18-inch pothole is damaging cars on Lower Britwell Road.

The report, made to FixMyStreet stated: "This pothole is huge it is damaging vehicles tyres and is a danger because cars are swerving to miss it onto oncoming traffic."

When approached for comment on the issues, a Slough Borough Council spokesperson said: “We advise residents to report issues or concerns using our online forms, which go directly to the relevant teams.

"There are forms for most issues, including littering and flytipping, missed bins, street lighting, potholes and other highways and transport issues.

"Once we receive a report, we will look into the best way to deal with what is reported. Unfortunately, sometimes this may take longer than residents had hoped for.”
