A warning has gone out after a "dangerous substance" has been confirmed in Slough.
GP surgery's in Slough, along with Wexham Park Hospital has issued a drug alert after Heroin in the area was found to contain Nitazine.
It comes after reports of a fatal heroin overdose on January 12, 2024.
Analysis of the syringe used was found to have contained Heroin and Nitazine.
The alert reads: "Local heroin-using individuals are urged to take extreme caution, especially if you use other opiate-based medication in addition to heroin or if you buy from a new source.
"Nitazine is an extremely dangerous synthetic opiate."
The alert adds: "This batch is similar in appearance to your usual supply, so please take extreme caution."
The alert urges heroin users to
- If at all possible, Do Not to use your drugs alone
- Carry Naloxone
- If you can, Inform a trusted person of your use and ask them to have Naloxone and regularly check up on you.

- Speak with your local drug service - Turning Point Slough for advice or Naloxone.
- Do not trust new sources for your supply
