A Green Belt home has applied for a single storey extension – despite plans being “significantly” reduced following pre-application consultation.
The plans for the home in Cookham would see an extension added to the existing kitchen, as well as alterations to the fenestration at the rear.
However, the covering statement suggests that the plans had been rolled back following contact with the council prior to submission.
It reads: “The application comprises a single storey rear extension to extend the existing kitchen with alterations to the fenestration at the rear.
“This has been significantly reduced since the pre app was undertaken with the Council.”
The family sized, two story home in question falls within both the Green Belt and a conservation area.
However, the property itself is not a listed building.
The statement adds: “The property is close to the cluster of residential houses around the small village green of Cookham Dean.
“The property is however not visible from the main residential area. The local area has a very rural settlement feel, accessed by winding country lanes and with a mixture of agricultural land and mature landscaped gardens.”
The applicant added that the purpose of the development is to improve the facilities for the family that lives in the house to create “improved family space with better connections to the large garden space.”
According to the planning statement, the house is believed to have been built in the early 20th century.
It adds that the home “has simple traditional architectural details in the form of brick with render and timber frame to the front and rear elevations, bay windows and a tiled pitched roof.
“These details and wider context of the elevations have been considered key as part of the setting for the proposed extension.
“The proposed extension is a traditional addition with glazing to accord with the principal fabric and rear elevation, and be sympathetic with the architectural style and period.”
