With Christmas just one week away, many will be thinking of how best to visit loved ones in the lead-up to the big day and New Year's.
Trains
December 23 trains will operate a normal Saturday service
On Christmas Eve, engineering works will see no services between Ealing Broadway and London Paddington. Trains will be running from Ealing Broadway and Heathrow Airport / Reading. There will be no train services into or out of London Paddington station. Long-distance services will start and terminate at Reading.
No services will be running on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
On December 27, the services will mirror that of Christmas Eve.
Saturday services will operate on December 28 and 29. The service between London Paddington and Didcot Parkway will be reduced to an hourly frequency. An hourly service will also run between Reading and Didcot Parkway, providing two trains per hour between Reading and Didcot Parkway.
Trains on December 30 will follow the same Saturday scheduling pattern, but travellers are warned the 11:45pm Didcot Parkway to London Paddington service will not call at Burnham or Taplow. A replacement bus will run between Slough and Burnham / Taplow, connecting with the train. This is the same with the 0:34am service.
New Year's Eve service will operate on a Sunday schedule, but the 6:20am, 6:38am and 23:53pm services will not stop at Burnham with a replacement bus connecting Slough and Burnham.
New Year's will see a normal Saturday service.
On January 2, works between Slough and Reading mean the 00:02am, 00:18am, 00:45am services won't call at Burnham or Taplow with a replacement bus available.
Ongoing road closures
Cookham Bridge is currently closed until March for "essential bridge repairs", a diversion route is in force via the A404.
Owlsmoor Road in Bracknell is also closed until March to ensure safety during roadworks. A diversion takes motorists via the A3095.
Blakes Lane near Wargrave is closed for works until March. Motorists are advised to use the B477 and Victoria Road
Church Road in Woodley is closed until April. A diversion route exists through Headley Road and Tippings Lane.
Ash Lane in West Berkshire is closed for drainage on the A34 slip road.
Motorway closures
There will be lane closures on the M4 for improvement and upgrading work from 8pm to 6am each night going westbound from Junction 11 to Junction 8/9.
Similar work is taking place at the same time going eastbound from Junction 8/9 and 11.
Further along, further lane closures will be taking place from 5pm to 6am until December 23 between Junction 13 and Junction 12 both ways.
Upcoming road closures
Hawkridge Hill will be closed from 8am to 5pm on December 20 for works.
Ashmore Green Road will be closed on December 20 from 8am to 5pm for works.
Union Road near Bradfield will be closed on December 21 from 8am to 5pm for works.
Shalford Hill in Newbury will be closed on December 21 from 8am to 5pm.
Reading Road will be closed going through Wokingham from December 27 to 28 for works. A diversion route has been put into force taking motorists via the A321, Queens Road, Toutley Road and Reading Road
