A classic British brasserie has undergone a refurbishment, reopening with a new festive menu.
Browns Brasserie & Bar Windsor reopened on November 9 with a brand new look inspired by luxe art deco.
The Observer was invited down to see the refurbishment for ourselves whilst also trying out a few items on the new menu.
Upon getting to the restaurant, located on The Promenade, you are greeted with a floral iterance and new chic interior.
We were sat at a corner table and shown the new festive menu and A La Carte - with both giving varied options and catering to all dietary requirements.
I decided to try the braised blade of beef, which came with buttered mash, fried crispy onions, maple roast carrots, mulled wine braised red cabbage, shaved brussels and a chestnut and black garlic sauce (£25.50).
When the dish arrived it was beautifully arranged, with the cabbage and brussels coming as a side dish.
I was quick to tuck in and was amazed at the chestnut and black garlic sauce, along with the mulled wine braised red cabbage.
The beef was tender and fell apart perfectly and was complimented well with the glazed carrots, mash potato and fried onions which appeared more like onion rings.
Overall I wouldn't fault the dish at all
After a quick refreshment break of a pink lemonade (£3.20), I dived into the dessert, opting for the Browns dessert trio (£10.50).
This was made up of a vanilla crème Brule, chocolate fondant with honeycomb ice cream and a mango and passion fruit torte.
The chocolate fondant was beautifully put together and the honeycomb ice cream was a great addition and one of the best ice creams I've had.
The Crème Brûlée was a more mellow flavour and texture, coming with two blueberries.
I tried the passion fruit torte last and it was a brilliant end to a fantastic meal, leaving a sweet and tangy taste in the mouth.
Overall I think Browns has done a fantastic job at creating a pleasant and sophisticated dining space and a menu which despite my initial reservations over elements being on the pricier side, my expectations were blown out the water.
Our waitress Cristina was also a joy throughout the experience.
I would recommend Browns to anyone with a special occasion coming up!
