A Windsor mechanical workshop has applied for change of use permission to allow use as an MOT station.

The applicant has put in the change of use request for site at Fairacres Industrial Estate to switch from the commercial Class E to Class B2.

The site is currently used as a vehicle service and repairs workshop.

The application form reads: “Change of use required as we are planning on using the building as an MOT station therefore the building needs to be classed as B2, currently it is class E.

“Will also be used as a vehicle mechanical repairs workshop in addition to it being an MOT station. Repairs have already begun at the unit and we are currently trading as a car repairs workshop.”

Machinery at the site would include an MOT testing bay, poster lifts, tire changing machinery, aircon refill machines and other tools.

The form adds: “Used oil and any contaminated waste from vehicles will be removed using a licensed company.

“Currently we have used oil stored in a 1000L container on site, remaining waste is stored in a container which will be removed at the same time. General waste is collected via a refuse company we are currently using.”
