A YOUNG man has avoided jail after attempting to buy an almost £5,000 watch with a fake bank card.

Abdirahman Abdi was sentenced for fraud by false representation and possession of an article in use for fraud on Wednesday (November 22) after being caught trying to purchase an expensive watch from Beaverbrooks Jewellers in Bracknell.

The 23-year-old entered the store in The Lexicon on November 4, 2021 to pick up a £4,900 watch which had been ordered for collection online.

However, a retail worker became suspicious when Abdi handed over a bank card which was not embossed and had too many digits on the back.

A WOMAN was sexually assault at a bus stop in Reading, say police.

At about 1.05am on Sunday (November 12), a woman has been waiting at the bus stop on St Mary’s Butts, nearest to Hosier Street.

She got up to get on her bus when a man walked up behind her and started touching her around her waist.

A MAN has been attacked and hospitalised by a group of boys in a Slough park.

At about 7pm on Tuesday (November 21), the victim, a man aged in his fifties, was walking through Langley Memorial Park when he was approached by a group of boys.

One of the offenders tried to grab the victim’s beard, all of the boys then circled the victim kicking him and pulling him to the ground, and continuing to kick him.

A PAEDOPHILE caught with an ‘extreme’ photographic image involving an animal has avoided jail.

Lawrence Fisk, of Wards Stone Park, Bracknell, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday (November 22) for three counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child, one count of distributing an indecent photograph and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences at the first opportunity after a warrant was issued to search his home on November 25, 2021.

AN ‘abusive and spiteful’ man has been released from jail after attempting to strangle his former partner with a tea towel.

Christopher Flynn, 52, received a suspended sentence at Reading Crown Court on Thursday (November 23), releasing him from prison where he has been remanded in custody since May.

He had been convicted of attempted strangulation and assault by beating – both of which occurred on November 10 last year in Newbury.

Sentencing Flynn, Judge Neil Millard dubbed him as being ‘abusive and spiteful’ on the day of the incident which resulted in his ex-partner being fearful for her life.

A PAEDOPHILE caught with indecent images of children has been researching a book which addresses hebephilia.

Amri Bhachoo, 47, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Thursday (November 23) for three counts of possessing indecent images of children.

The images were found on various equipment seized from Bhachoo’s home where police also found a search for the book ‘Lolita’, a 1955 novel written by Russian-American novelist Vladimir Nabokov which addresses hebephilia.
