An old Slough phone shop could soon be transformed into a new hot food takeaway.

Plans submitted to Slough Borough Council would see the currently vacant unit at Winsford Parade on Albert Street repurposed as a takeaway.

The application form suggests the takeaway would serve various foods –  including grilled chicken, kebabs, chips and breakfast.

The design and access statement reads: “The proposed hot food takeaway will contribute positively to the precinct by addressing the shortage of takeaways, creating jobs, and enhancing the diversity of offerings.

“We are committed to working closely with the local planning authority to ensure that this development meets all necessary planning requirements.

“We respectfully request that the local planning authority consider our application favourably, recognising the substantial benefits this hot food takeaway will bring to the local community.”

The applicant also claimed the area has a “shortage of takeaways” and that it would create new employment opportunities for nearby residents.

If approved as planned, the new takeaway would also include sit-down dining space and an extractor flue.

No additional parking spaces are included in the application, although the design and access statement noted there is parking available on the road outside the shop precinct.

The statement adds: “The precinct currently lacks diverse food options. The hot food takeaway will enhance the local area by providing a variety of culinary choices.

“The vacant site will be transformed into a thriving business, adding vitality and vibrancy to the precinct.”
