Children weren't the only ones celebrating Halloween last week, with many dogs donning costumes parading in the hopes of getting a prize.
An annual Howloween dog fancy dress competition took place at the Windsor Trooper on Monday, October 30.
Hosted in partnership with Slough charity The Dogs Nobody Wants Sanctuary, all money raised by the competition goes toward the care of disabled and unwanted dogs.
The Sanctuary is run by Matthew Young who cares for 13 rescue dogs with varying disabilities, health or behavioural issues, or are just too elderly to re-home.
Sponsored by Dandy Dogz Groomers in Old Windsor, Bamboodles, Knightpics and A.B Plastering of Windsor, the event has been described as a "great success" with each participant receiving a fab ghoulish goody bag full of treats.
Pomeranian pumpkins, doggy devils, Chucky, Dobby, bats and spiders were all in attendance, with the first place winner going to one-year-old rescue Mabel with her owner Lucy dressed as Pennywise and Georgie, complete with a red balloon, from the scary movie ‘IT’ winning a prize bag of Halloween treats and a £100 Photoshoot prize.
Second place went to five-year-old Cocker Spaniel George and his owner Deb dressed as Dorothy and the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of OZ.
Third place went to Pinkie, a one-year-old Samoyed-ChowChou cross-dressed as a Panda.
Organisers wished to give a special mention to Teddy the Lakeland Terrier dressed as a rotten pumpkin, and Windsor Pub dog, Simco, a two-year-old Golden Retriever from the neighbouring Hoppy Place who came dressed as BatDog and earned the hearts of the judges with her ‘Sit Pretty'.
The evening raised nearly £200 for the sanctuary.
Matthew Young said: "I can’t thank people enough for coming to our Howloween event again, especially in the current climate where money is tight for everyone.
"People continue to surprise me with their generosity and kindness and we truly appreciate everyone’s ongoing support."
The next charity event will be a Christmas Craft Night at A Hoppy Place, before Santa Paws and his naughty elves come to the Windsor Trooper again for the Christmas Fancy Dress Party.
