A 25-year-old Slough man has been jailed after threatening his victim with a large machete knife.
Ryan Efey, 25 of Wexham Road appeared in Reading crown court on Monday, October 30 where he pleaded guilty to threatening a person with a bladed object in a public place and affray.
The incident happened at around 4:10 pm on June 4 on Chalvey High Street where Efey was involved in a physical altercation with a 23-year-old man.
He then proceeded to use the machete to taunt and threaten the victim with violence.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Daniel May, based at Slough police station, said: “Ryan Efey has admitted his involvement in a violent act where fortunately, the victim did not sustain any injuries.
“Efey produced a large machete knife and taunted the victim in broad daylight in front of members of the public including children.”
Following the incident, Efey was arrested on June 12 and charged the following day.
He was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison at Reading Crown Court on November 2.
Detective May added: “The sentence given to Efey sends a clear message that we will not allow violent acts take place in Slough with knives.
“Knife carrying will not be tolerated in Thames Valley, and through Operation Deter, you can expect to be robustly dealt with, charged, remanded and placed before the courts.”
“My message to the community is if you have any information about anybody who is carrying a knife, please report this to us, either on 101 or by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
