An out-of-town McDonald's has now pushed its opening date back to next year.
McDonald's set its sights on a unit in Taplow's Bishop Centre in late 2022 - taking over the old Evans Cycles unit.
Situated in the crosshairs of Slough, Maidenhead and Buckinghamshire, residents and councillors have since spoken against the move for the fast-food chain giant to join the likes of Tesco and TKMaxx in the retail park.

However, Buckinghamshire Council approved planning permission and on October 17 granted McDonald's a 24/7 license to serve food and drink around the clock.
Previously a McDonald's spokesperson said: “We are excited to be progressing with our new restaurant in Taplow, which will be opening at the end of November this year.
"The new restaurant will bring significant investment to the local area as well as creating at least 65 full and part-time jobs."
In an update given to this newspaper, the restaurant opening date has been pushed back to January 24, 2024.
It comes as the windows of the McDonald's unit have been blacked out as workmen have been seen coming and going.
