Work has begun on turning the old Sainsbury's site on the Farnham Road into a new storage unit.
Big Yellow self-storage has announced that their development is now underway, as contractor MCS Group starts construction of the facility.
Once complete, the Big Yellow site will be 62,000 sq ft. and span three storeys.
Located on the Slough Trading Estate, it has a 35-week build programme, with a completion date of March 2024.
Big Yellow will follow on to fit out the building for a store opening in Summer 2024.
Construction director at Big Yellow, Nigel Hartley, said: "The construction activities have started well and we are optimistic this will prove to be a successful partnership.”
Big Yellow boasts a modern, purpose-built store, with every room individually alarmed with PIN code access, 24/7 externally monitored CCTV, staff on-site seven days a week during trading hours, fire and smoke detection systems, extended hours access, forklift service and offices available to rent from 28 days.
Managing director at Warwick-based MCS Group, Keir Edmonds, said: “We are really excited to have been appointed by Big Yellow to deliver this very high-quality self-storage facility.
“Self-storage is a buoyant and growing sector and we are looking forward to working alongside Big Yellow to deliver this fantastic facility for the people of Slough. It’s great to see the construction team on site and work underway.”
