The Royal Borough’s mayor is hosting a fundraising dinner at the Windsor Guildhall in support of a military charity next month.
Councillor Neil Knowles will host the fundraiser for the Household Cavalry Foundation – which is his own former regiment from his time in the army.
The mayor has also been appointed the borough’s Armed Forces Champion.
He said: It’s an honour to be mayor and a double honour to be appointed the borough’s Armed Forces Champion, providing me with a unique platform to celebrate and support our serving armed forces personnel, veterans and cadets through hosting charitable events like this.”
The dinner will be held on Friday, October 20 and will feature a drinks reception, meal and live music from the Household Cavalry’s regimental band.
The mayor added: “While best known from horseback pageantry at ceremonial events, the Household Cavalry plays an active part in the UK’s defence and peace-keeping operations around the world.
“It also has historic links to Windsor. As a Windsor lad, I was proud to serve as part of the regiment, which always has a special place in my heart, and I take every opportunity to help my old regiment and give back.”
Tickets cost £65 each and are available on a first-come-first-served basis. They can be purchased on the council’s website or by calling 07866 127222.
