Emergency services rushed to a canal after they received reports of a casualty in the water.
At 1.32pm on Tuesday, July 18 2023, the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service noticed of an incident in the Grand Union Canal near Iver.
Crews from Slough and Langley fire stations were sent to the scene alongside a crew from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, a Water Rescue Unit from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and two Officers.
A spokesperson from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Upon arrival, crews assisted the Police in recovering a casualty from the river.
"Sadly, the person was found dead at the scene.
"Our thoughts are with their friends and family at this incredibly difficult time."
Crews were on the scene for approximately one hour and 45 minutes before handing over to Thames Valley Police.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: "We received reports of a person being seen in the river in Iver yesterday afternoon.
"Fire crews helped to recover the body of a 56-year-old man.
"The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
"Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time.
