A local church has written to the council in a bid to prevent a sex shop from operating two doors down.
Simply Pleasure, situated at 32 Windsor Road, has applied for a renewal of a sex establishment license after its previous license ran out on April 30.
By law, sex shops have to be issued a license by the local council under the Local Government Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1982.
If given a renewed license, Simply Pleasure hopes to continue selling Rated 18 DVDs, Adult Novelties, Lingerie and clothing.
On April 14 Timothy Hemming on behalf of Simply Pleasure issued a notice of application in the Observer stating how an application to renew the store's license had been made to Slough Borough Council.
Two weeks later Slough Baptist Church filed an objection on May 3.
In their letter to Slough Borough Council's Licensing team, they said: "On behalf of Slough Baptist Church I would like to formally object to the above premises being granted a Sex Establishment License on the grounds of the character of the locality."
The letter went on to say the establishment is situated on of the "key routes" into Slough and is a "busy pedestrian route" to local shops and services.
"With this locality being a busy route for walking, public transport, and vehicles, it does not seem to reflect the values of Slough to have a sex establishment in such a prominent location," the Baptist Church continued.
"The proximity of this business to a family church is also questionable."
Slough Borough Council's Licensing Sub-Committee are to meet on Thursday, July 6 to discuss the application and objection.
