AS students across Berkshire knuckle down as GCSE and A-Level exam season hits, we have taken a look at the best schools in the area.

To ensure schools are providing a good quality of teaching, while also being safe and well-led, education watchdog Ofsted regularly inspects schools.

Recent Ofsted data shows dozens of nursery, primary and secondary schools in Slough Windsor and Maidenhead currently hold an 'outstanding' rating.

2. M40: Air ambulance called to Bicester crash that closes motorway

Slough Observer:

 

SLOUGH motorists using the M40 today (May 18) have been warned of road closure after a serious accident.

The M40 is currently closed in both directions between Junctions 9 and 10 following a serious road traffic collision.

Thames Valley Police Roads Policing said: "The northbound carriageway is likely to remain closed for several hours."

3. Slough: Viral TikTok takes a swipe at 'most tired town'

A VIRAL TikTok with nearly half a million views has slammed Slough town centre for its 'tired' appearance.

Known as MC or @m.combe07, the TikToker said on first impression exiting the train station there were "a lot of good nice builds".

Having made his way to the A4 (Wellington Street) he commented how it looks "nice and clean" and was surprised at the travel links displayed on signs, including; Windsor, Eton, Maidenhead and Gerrard's Cross.

4. Kyron Lee: Teenager charged with murder named for first time

Slough Observer:

 

A TEENAGER who has been charged with murder has been named for the first time.

Fras Seedahmed, of Surrey Avenue, Slough, has been charged along with four other people of murdering Kyron Lee on October 2 last year.

The 18-year-old’s anonymity was previously protected under the Section 45 of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 as he was 17 when he was arrested and charged.

5. Historic Slough pub due for makeover in plans submitted

Slough Observer:

 

A HISTORIC pub in Slough is due for a makeover according to plans submitted this week.

The Long Barn, a pub that dates back to the 1600s is set to get refreshed signage thanks to its owners Greene King.

Over in Langley, the home of a long running alcoholic drinks business could be replaced with a modern building providing four flats and updated commercial space.
