A man who dumped furniture around the back of Travelodge has been fined hundreds of pounds.
David Lacatus of St John’s Road, Slough was caught fly-tipping waste in Buckingham Gardens on November 24, 2022.
CCTV footage caught Lacatus parking his Silver Vauxhall Vectra at the rear fire exit of Travelodge.
He then opens his car boot and takes out a table, drawers and bags of clothes into the public highway.
Lacatus pleaded guilty to fly-tipping during an appearance at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 12.
Slough Borough Council said Lacatus was offered multiple opportunities to pay a fixed penalty notice to discharge any liability for prosecution for this offence, however, he failed to do so.
At court, he was fined £276, and must pay a victim surcharge of £116 and £500 costs.
Greg Edmond, the council’s principal housing and enforcement officer, said: “This never needed to happen and come to court. He could have paid the fine and it would have been dealt with. Instead, he has a hefty bill and a criminal record.
“Normal household waste can be taken to the Household Waste and Recycling Centre in Chalvey for free. There are also clothing bins there.
“We hope this acts as a reminder that everyone should be playing their part to dispose of waste correctly and lawfully.”
