THE sentencing of two men who kidnapped a woman and raped her after threatening to inject her with heroin has been delayed.

Kasra Esmaelie and Aziz Nasser, both 25, were found guilty after a trial at Reading Crown Court of five counts between them of rape, sexual assault and assault by beating after the incident on September 3, 2021.

On Monday (April 24), the pair were found guilty of all five counts. Both were charged on count one and two of rape, Nasser was charged with count three of sexual assault and count four of assault by beating, and Esmaelie was charged with count five of assault by beating.

The pair were due to be sentenced on Tuesday (May 9) at the same court. However, the proceedings have been delayed due to Esmaelie failing to be presented to court and Nasser’s lack of barrister.

Esmaelie, who has been remanded in custody until sentencing, had moved prisons and the new prison had not been informed of the proceedings meaning Esmaelie was not presented for the court case.

Additionally, Nasser, who represented himself during the trial, was advised to find a barrister before his sentencing but told the court that it had taken a long time to get credit on his phone in prison so he wasn’t able to sort out representation prior to the hearing.

Judge Edward Burgess told Nasser to let the court know by Tuesday, May 23 if he has sorted out representation ahead of the new sentencing date of Friday, June 9.

During the trial, the court heard that the men had been giving a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, a lift home from London where she had been visiting some friends when the incident happened in Upton Court Car Park in Slough.

Prosecutor Paul Fairley said both defendants had sexually assaulted the woman in the back of a car after threatening to inject her with heroin.

The woman had to fake a seizure to the panic the men into taking her home.

Addressing Judge Burgess on Tuesday, Nasser’s father said: “He has never been in custody or prison. He is very good.

“In school until university until he got a job – he’s never been in trouble, nothing. His background is very clean. He’s hard working and loyal.”

However, Judge Burgess reminded Mr Nasser that the jury had already found his son guilty and he respects their decision.
