Street parties and events celebrating King Charles III's Coronation are taking place in Slough over the weekend and into the bank holiday.

The Coronation will be on Saturday, May 6, and a special weekend of events will be held across the country marking this historic occasion, including the Coronation Big Lunch on Sunday, the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle, and the Big Help Out on Monday.

There will be street parties taking place across Berkshire.

In the last few months, local councils encouraged anyone wishing to hold a party on the public highway to ensure they applied early for a temporary road closure. The deadline has now passed.

Slough BID has outlined its plans for a King’s Coronation Street Party on May 7 from 12pm to 4pm in the Town Square.

On Monday, May 8 they will also hold a Community Litter Pick from 12pm to 2pm starting at St Mary’s Church, Church Street, Slough

Slough BID has already lined the High Street with festive bunting, creating a celebratory atmosphere for the party.

Look out for the Royal Acts, Street Performers and a Brass Band in the Town Square.

Slough’s very own Marinela and Ovais from the Arts Classes Group will be working with the BID to provide crown decorating, ceramic painting and foam animal painting activities for the children.

A variety of ‘delicious’ food and drink will also be on offer from local businesses, RKM Coffee will be turning its hand to serving a desi barbecue in the Town Square for the community to enjoy.

The street party will be a ‘colourful’, ‘vibrant’ and ‘joyous’ occasion which will bring together people from all walks of life to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III.

Families with children, young adults and the elderly are all invited to celebrate with Slough BID

Slough BID said: “The celebration will be a testament to the pride and unity of the people of Slough Town Centre.”
