WITH the Slough local all-out election fast approaching, we asked the political parties to send photos and brief introductions of their candidates vying for your vote.

This will be the first election in a long while where every seat at Slough Borough Council is up for grabs and where the internal ward boundaries have been completely redrawn.

Instead of 15 wards where most of the areas were represented by three councillors when elections were held by thirds, 21 boundaries have been created represented by two councillors each. However, the current 42 seats in the council remain intact.

Unlike by thirds, which was held almost every year and, in Slough’s case, was unlikely to change the political make-up of the local authority, the all-out election will be held every four years and gives the Conservatives more of a chance to take control of the Labour-run council.

The current political make-up of Slough Borough Council consists of 35 Labour, five Conservative, and two Independent members.

This year, both Labour and the Tories have put forward 42 candidates respectively, the Liberal Democrats have eight candidates, seven Independent candidates have put themselves forward, four from the Green Party, and one from the Heritage Party.

This means there are 104 candidates in total standing for the all-out election in Slough.

Without further ado, here are the candidates vying for your vote on May 4.
