1. Slough Trading Estate robbery sees £5million stolen from Pivotal Group

Slough Observer:

Masked raiders have pulled off a £5million heist at a high-security warehouse in Slough Trading Estate.

Early on Wednesday morning, police were notified of the terrifying robbery where staff on site were threatened before the intruders made away with cash.

It has now been confirmed that vans from the Pivotal Cash Management company were the target of the attack.

2. New O2 phone shop opens on high street

Slough Observer:

A new store has opened up on Slough high street.

Situated in the old Starbucks, O2 launched a new phone shop on Friday, March 24.

The store stocks the latest range of phones, and an accessory bay with live demo products, including phones and speakers.

3. Intruder in the building sends Slough school into lockdown

Slough Observer:

A Slough secondary school have issued a statement after an intruder gained access to a part of the school building on Monday morning (March 27).

After concerns were raised, the building was put into lockdown and Thames Valley Police acted swiftly to resolve the situation.

A spokesperson from St Joseph’s Catholic High School, Slough said: “Earlier today an intruder managed to get into part of our school’s building.

“The individual was immediately seen by staff members, and the school went into lockdown while police were called. This is a process that all schools practice, in a similar way to a fire drill, and something we have done regularly in the past."

4. Thames Valley University sold in multimillion pound deal

Slough Observer:

An old university site has been sold in a multimillion-pound regeneration deal which will see 1,300 new homes being built.

The new developer has set out plans to transform the former site of Thames Valley University into a new neighbourhood in the centre of Slough.

On March 24 it was announced that the government’s housing and regeneration agency, Homes England's, purchased the site from Slough Borough Council.

5. Beechwood School rated 'required improvement' by Ofsted

Slough Observer:

A Slough secondary school has received a 'requires improvement' rating by Ofsted, four years after being given the same rating.

Beechwood School, located on Long Readings Lane in Slough was inspected on January 24 and 25 this year. The full report of the visit was published on March 17.

It comes at a time when Ofsted is being called to make changes in the way it evaluates schools following the death of headteacher Ruth Perry, who was awaiting an 'inadequate' Ofsted report for Caversham Primary School in Reading.
