A man who took a knife into a restaurant has been jailed.
Ryan Hodge, aged 30, of Langtons Meadow, Farnham Common, was found guilty by majority verdict of one count of possession of an offensive weapon at Reading Crown Court.
On September 20, 2022, Ryan Hodge entered Tummies Restaurant in Station Road, Slough where he was involved in a confrontation.
Multiple members of the public reported seeing him with a knife.
Police attended the scene and arrested Hodge, taking him to the police station where he assaulted a police officer whilst in custody and committed criminal damage in his cell.
Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, Hodge attended court where he pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting an emergency worker and one count of criminal damage.
On Tuesday, March 21, Hodge was sentenced to a year and eight months in prison at Reading Crown Court.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Timothy Crossman, based at Slough police station, said: “Thames Valley Police is committed in dealing with violent and knife related crime robustly.
“This incident was particularly alarming as it involved the defendant openly being in possession of a knife in broad daylight, in the vicinity of a busy restaurant.
“This conviction underlines the seriousness in which knife crime is viewed by police and the criminal justice system.
“It also ensures that a particular violent individual is rightly imprisoned reducing any risk to our communities.”
