In a summary of Berkshire, Muddy Stilettos said: "A county so fancy it's called Royal Berkshire.

"Now home to the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Queen’s final resting place, Berks boasts a constellation of Michelin star restaurants, has inspired literary greats and is one of the most commutable counties in the country."

Here are the 12 places in Berkshire you could names the best place to live and what the awards have said:

Described by the awards board as "a little bit of country, a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll", Cavesgam boasts a wide variety of "urban and outdoorsy fun" and excellent transport links.

Yattendon

Residents here "live the rural dream" according to Muddy Stilettos. Yattendon has a "buzzy social scene and cosy country pubs," but properties rarely come on the market. It is "quintessentially Berkshire".
