Tesco Express has announced that their opening on a major high street is just around the corner.
Soon to open in Maidenhead, the Tesco Express will be situated in Unit 74 on the High Street, in what used to be a Monsoon clothing store.
The store will benefit from a bakery, Costa Coffee Express machine, meal deals and lottery tickets and will be open 6am to 11pm every day.
Tesco has said how they hope to boost jobs in the area and have also set out how they hope to help charities and people in the town.
Ben Scott, the store’s manager, said that supporting the community’s residents will be important to store staff in the coming years.
He added: “We’re hugely excited to be opening our new Maidenhead Express to help support the community.
“The store opening will provide a real boost for Maidenhead, helping to employ and train local people, and it’ll be a pleasure to see our colleagues grow and develop.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming so much new talent and experience into our Tesco team.
“We will of course also promote Tesco’s Community Grants scheme, with the aim of donating thousands of pounds for local good causes that can help the community to flourish.”
The store is set to open its doors on Thursday, February 16.
It will bring 20 new jobs to Maidenhead and has pledged to donate surplus goods to local food banks at the end of each day - an initiative known as the Community Food Connection scheme.
Since its launch in 2015, the Tesco Community Food Connection Scheme has donated more than 16,500 meals to local charities in Maidenhead.
Tesco’s Community Grants will also seek to fund local causes.
Community groups in and around Maidenhead are invited to apply for community funding - demonstrated in stores by Tesco’s blue token voting scheme which sees three local projects voted on by customers in-store every three months, with first place awarded £1,500, second place £1,000 and third place £500.
Local organisations can apply for grants at tescocommunitygrants.org.uk/apply-for-a-grant
The new store is owned by commercial property company Sorbon Estates who have said they are "delighted" that Tesco Express is the "newest addition" to the high street.
