A group of talented ice skaters are celebrating after competing in the British Synchro Championships and bringing back trophies and medals galore.
Slough Synchro Skating Club attended the championships at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham on January 14 and 15.
With five teams of skaters competing, the club were pleased to each achieve a podium finish.
Slough Synchro Skating Club chairman, Jo Hodgson said: "This means everything to the club. It's what we train for all year.
"To come away with so many medals and personal best's was an amazing achievement."
The teams skated to the likes of Lion King, Spice Girls and a compilation of empowering women such as Whitney Houston, Tina Turner and Celine Dion.
Here is a break-down of what each team achieved:
- The Beginner team Enchanted, skated to a Lion King medley and were crowned British Champions.
- The Intermediate team Fantasia won gold skating to a Spice Girls compilation.
- The Adult team Illusion had a theme of Empowering Women and skated to a compilation from three huge female artists Whitney Houston, Tina Turner and Celine Dion – this won them the silver medal.
- The Junior B team Magic took silver with their interpretation of Moulin Rouge.
- The Senior B team Spellbound achieved a personal best score of over 70 points – a huge jump from last season and won a bronze medal skating to music from the movie Dreamgirls.
- SPICE Crystals skated to music from the Greatest Showman embracing who they are, and won gold
- SPICE Sparkles skated to a Mamma Mia compilation, achieving silver
Team SPICE Synchro is comprised of skaters with a variety of additional needs including autism, Down syndrome, profound hearing impairment, cerebral palsy and global developmental delay.
All of the Slough teams achieved this with just 45 minutes of ice training a week.
The skaters are now turning their sights to the final competition of the season, the Steel City Trophy which is due to take place in Sheffield on March 4 and 5.
Slough Synchro Skating Club will be holding tryouts for the 2023/24 season over the coming months.
The club is now looking for sponsorship from local or national companies, in order for them to be able to compete on the international circuit.
