1. Sports Direct, YES Slough, and Divine Rescue to move from Queensmere

The closure of a number of stores in one of Slough’s main shopping centres is coming in the next week ahead of major redevelopment.

A multitude of shops on the western side of the Queensmere shopping centre will be closed from January 16 and relocated elsewhere, with brands including Adorn Beauty.

This is to facilitate British Land’s plans, which were granted outline planning permission, to redevelop the Queensmere shopping centre into 1,600 flats, new shops, restaurants, leisure, offices, and public open space.

2. Slough Knife Angel in the 'wrong place' say residents

The 'knife angel' arrived in Slough on Monday, January 9, but residents have already raised concerns about its location.

Marking the start of Thames Valley Police's month of action against knife crime and violence in the area, the monument will call Slough it's home until the end of January.

The 27ft angel made of 100,000 knives handed in at amnesty bins currently stands in the car park of Arbour Park Stadium in Slough.

3. Slough shopping centre stabbing: Two men in hospital

Police were called to Slough's Observatory Shopping Centre last night after two 18-year-old men were stabbed.

The incident is reported to have happened at 5pm yesterday (January 13) inside the shopping centre.

Both stab victims were taken to the hospital where they are in a stable condition.

4. Data centres not ruled out after SEGRO purchases Slough Retail Park

The new owners of Slough Retail Park have spoken out about the future of the site. 

SEGRO, the real estate investment trust company who are the backbone of Slough Trading Estate, acquired the retail park on Wednesday, January 11 in a million-pound deal.

The 191,500 sq ft site was sold to SEGRO by the previous owner, The Royal London Mutual Insurance Society Limited, for £120.25million.

5. Station Road, Slough: 'Serious' incident declared as crews battle fire

Firefighters attended a 'serious' fire on Station Road which saw plumes of grey smoke billowing into the night sky.

At 6.16pm last night (January 8) Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Services received reports of a fire at a commercial premise on Station Road in Langley.

Upon arrival, crews discovered an industrial fire involving tyres, wooden pallets and heavy goods vehicles.
