1. Slough teen becomes youngest lorry driver in UK

Slough Observer:

A Slough teenager has passed his HGV Grade One lorry driving test at the age of 18 years and two months.

Gurrajan Dhaliwal said: "It feels amazing. It is an accomplishment you can get at a very young age."

After training for about a month with Harry Driving School, Gurranjan was awarded his license on October 27, 2022.

2. Maidenhead car park will remain closed for "foreseeable future"

Slough Observer:

A TOWN centre multi-storey car park that was closed last-minute on New Year’s Eve will remain shut “for the foreseeable future”.

Cllr Phil Haseler (Con: Cox Green), lead member for parking, said the “ageing” Broadway car park in Broadway will stay closed for health and safety reasons while contractors carry out assessments for further works to be identified.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead announced its closure at short notice as urgent repair work needed to be carried out after what appeared to be debris that has fallen off the car park structure.

3. Three jailed, including two Slough men after drug smuggle attempt

Slough Observer:

Three members of an international organised crime group, including two Slough men, have been jailed for importing £1.2m worth of cocaine into the UK.

An investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) found that the trio were importing Caribbean Class A drugs from St Lucia into the country.

Baboucarr Nyang, 49, of Seymour Road, Slough, and Briton Winston Andrew, 55 of Long Readings Lane, Slough, were charged for their parts in the major international drug smuggling operation.

4. Windsor robbery: 12 men threaten teenagers as they demand belongings

Slough Observer:

A gang of 12 thugs have threatened three men to hand over their belongings after a terrifying attack in Windsor.

The incident took place on Wednesday, December 28, at 5.15pm in Stovell Road near to the junction between Vansittart Road and Barry Avenue.

Police said 12 men approached the three victims, all men in their late teens, and threatened them with harm if they did not give them their personal items.

5. Maidenhead car park 'closed for health and safety' reasons

Slough Observer:

A TOWN centre car park has closed this lunchtime due to 'health and safety reasons'. 

The Broadway car park in Broadway, Maidenhead, has closed today (December 31).

Nicholsons Shopping Centre made the announcement on social media asking shoppers to "please be aware".
