A MAN has pleaded guilty to burglary after breaking into Slough Bowls Club on Christmas day.
Mark Robson, aged 37, of Harrow Road, Slough, pleaded guilty to two counts of non-residential burglary at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 28.
At around 10.45pm on Christmas Day, witnesses reported a window being smashed at Slough Bowls Club on Chalvey Road East.
CCTV cameras showed two men going through several rooms, behind the bar area and one dismantled a pool table, before leaving, carrying large tote-style bags.
Officers attended the scene and found a window near to the front entrance had been broken.
Several items were stolen including spirits from the bar and storage room, valued at around £800, the contents of the pool table, an unknown amount of cash from the bar till, a wall safe in the office containing an unknown amount of cash and several keys for internal and external doors and shutters, which were in a key safe in the office.
Then on Boxing Day at 4.45pm, a member of the public reported they had seen a man enter the bowls club and heard the sound of breaking glass.
Officers attended and arrested Robson, who had several keys in his pockets, some of which had fobs for the bowls club. He was charged on Tuesday, December 27.
Robson has been released on conditional bail and is due to be sentenced at the same court on February 6 next year.
Detective Sergeant Gemma Mulcaster, based at Slough police station, said: “Burglary is an incredibly invasive crime, especially at this time of year, and one Thames Valley Police will always take seriously.
“Robson pleaded guilty and will now have the opportunity to learn from his actions.
“It will hopefully serve as a lesson to others who seek to commit crimes of this nature that we will investigate and bring offenders to justice.”
