HERO police officers have been praised for the quick-thinking bravery that saved a life at Maidenhead Train Station.

British Transport Police has publically commended two officers for their 'quick' and 'brave' actions which saved the life of an individual who had strayed onto the train tracks.

The force said on Tuesday, December 20, at 3:30pm, police community support officers were alerted to a 'suicidal person' near the tracks at the station.

The pair of officers acted fast to remove the person and themselves from the path of the oncoming train with 'seconds to spare', with no injuries to those involved.

British Transport Police have since tweeted about the incident, praising the officers involved. BTP Paddington said: "The PCSO’s acted quickly & bravely to remove the person and themselves from the path of the oncoming train with only a couple of seconds to spare.

"Along with @TVP_Maidenhead they were able to get the person the professional help they needed without any injuries."

Commenting online, Chief Superintendent Chris Casey said: "Having seen the train’s forward-facing CCTV, I am in awe.

"Our brilliant PCSOs never fail to impress.

"Without their split-second decision-making, we’d have certainly been dealing with a fatality."

The situation is being treated as a mental health-related incident, therefore the British Transport Police do not wish to comment further.
