A SLOUGH shop selling affordable, recycled school uniforms will soon move to the town centre to further help families during the cost of living crisis.
Uniform Express will soon be opening at unit 20 in the Observatory shopping centre temporarily which will be selling ties, blazers, shirts, skirts, and more at discounted rates.
It sells uniforms donated from parents and schools that are longer needed or have been in the lost and found for too long. The store has school clothing from Western House, Priory, Montem, Langley Academy, Grove Academy, Claycots, and many more.
The idea came from Shannel Joseph, who is a mother of five children, and managed to get an outlet for free with the help of Foxborough councillor Madhuri Bedi.

She said: “I’m in the process of setting up and I am very pleased because it’s an idea that I’ve had since Covid and I wanted to get it out there to help the community in Slough.
“I am a mother as well of five children, so I know how expensive it is to get a uniform for children and sometimes you buy an expensive uniform and then you lose it in lost property in the first week. I have experienced that.
“Schools want to get rid of their clutter from their lost property and instead of throwing it away or spoiling the environment in landfills, they can donate it over to me and we can make use of it in a positive way that will help the community.”
She also said she has seen more low-income families, single parents, and people on universal credit come forward since last year as the cost of living crisis continues to grow.
Ms Joseph added she hopes the discounted uniforms will help ease the financial pressure Slough parents are facing.

The aim is to open the store for two weeks from Monday, August 22. Uniform Express will open from 12pm to 4pm every Monday and Wednesday.
Ms Joseph said if it is successful, she hopes to reopen the store next year.
