1. Boy, 16, dies in lake tragedy

Slough Observer:

A teenager has tragically died after getting into difficulty in the waters at Bray Lake.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 11:45am to reports of the 16 year old in difficulty in the stretch of water near Maidenhead.

A rapid response and widespread search of the lake commenced with colleagues from Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service and the National Police Air Service (NPAS).

2. Long-serving MP to step down at next general election

Slough Observer:

WINDSOR’S long-serving MP is to stand down at the next general election.

The Windsor Conservatives have announced Adam Afriyie, who has represented the town since 2005, will not be standing at the next general election.

Lars Swann, the Chairman of the Windsor Conservatives Association (WCA), said: “Since Adam was elected to Parliament in May 2005, he has unfailingly helped all those who live in the Windsor constituency area, both the residents and businesses. He has supported many charities and campaigns in his time as our MP and will be missed by many.”

3. Person dies after being hit by train in Slough

Slough Observer:

A PERSON has died after being hit by a train in Slough.

Officers from British Transport Police were called to Slough train station at 8.16pm yesterday (July 20) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics also attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

4. MURDER PROBE: Arrest made after Slough man missing for seven months

Slough Observer:

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man who disappeared back in December.

Andrzej Mucha, 57, from Slough, was reported missing on December 30, 2021 and hasn't been seen since.

Thames Valley Police said they have been working to find Andrzej but there has been 'no proof of life' since his disappearance.

As such, detectives have launched a murder investigation.

5. Teenage passenger died from 'serious brain injuries' after van left road and hit a wall

Slough Observer:

A teenage van passenger died in a crash after suffering extensive brain injuries. 

Tommy Beldom, 18, died in hospital more than a month after the crash on London Road on April 3, 2022 at 8.30pm. 

At the opening of the inquest into his death, Reading Coroner’s Court heard how the Fiat Doblo van Tommy was a passenger in left the road at a roundabout and hit a wall. 

He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in London where he was treated for a ‘serious brain injury.’
