Temperatures in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead are set to hit a scorching 36C as the heatwave peaks on Monday and Tuesday.
The Met Office issued a red alert to the town, meaning the wider population is vulnerbale to serious health effects and a 'danger to life', not just the very young and old.
There is a high risk of failure of heat-sensitive systems and equipment, potentially leading to localised loss of power and other essential services, such as water or mobile phone services, according to the forecaster.
