EXPLORING Slough in the glorious sunshine should be on your to-do list if you have some free time.
There are so many great hidden gems to visit in the area where you can enjoy stunning views and wildlife.
Here are some of the places that are a must-see if you’re stuck on ideas on what to do this bank holiday weekend.
Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens
We are very lucky to have Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens on our doorstep.
This beautiful location is a must-see if you’re after a casual weekend stroll.
Grade I registered by English Heritage, the gardens underwent restoration work, which was completed in 2004.
Our Camera Club members are certainly big fans of this highly photogenic place.
Group member Kasia Biniak shared this quote as she captured the beauty of Stoke POges Memorial Gardens: “The charm of this place allows us to remember people who are close to us and who passed away from this world.
“The atmosphere, the charm of this place is amazing at any time of the year. I recommend to everyone.”

The Slough Canal
The Slough Arm area of the Grand Union Canal is blessed with picturesque views.
The Slough Canal is a five-mile arm running from Cowley to Slough’s Stoke Road basin. Building of the canal started in 1880 to support Langley’s brick making industry and to transport London’s rubbish to landfill sites alongside the canal.
A team of dedicated volunteers called ‘Friends of Slough Canal’ look after the canal.
Group member Ranjit Kooner, who lives close to the canal, said: "I work in the NHS and since 2020, the canal saved me.
"I was able to walk every day after my shift and I was able to refocus on the trees, plants, wildlife and just breath and relax. From a mental health perspective it’s been awesome for me."

Langley Park
At the moment, Langley Park is full of beautiful Rhododendron trees which our Camera Club member Subha Sai captured the other day.
One Google review said: "The rhododendrons in The Temple Garden are in bloom and it is extremely, extremely beautiful!
"The park is huge with beautiful gardens, decent number of trails, playground, cafe with toilets, large car park.
"The gardens and trails are beautiful and well taken care of. We spent just 3 hours but there is a lot of stuff to do so you can definitely plan a whole day here."
A definite must-see this time of year.
Salt Hill Park
Visitors to Salt Hill Park can get to enjoy looking at a beautiful rose garden at the moment.
Amateur photographer Subha Sai took some snaps of the colourful roses
One Google review of Salt Hill Park said: “It is a beautiful and multifunctional park. The park is quite large and is a nice place for exercise.”
