SLOUGH has been ranked as one of the best towns for fertility services, according to a recent study.

As part of World Infertility Awareness Month, My Expert Midwife gathered data on fertility clinic waiting times for each town and city across the country.

The study was based on data collected from 550 NHS fertility clinics, analysing GP referral times, patient ratings, number of clinics per person, and waiting times for egg and sperm donors.

Results showed the average wait time for referrals in Slough is 32 weeks, compared to England’s average of 40 weeks.

It placed Slough eighth out of 77 cities and towns, joint with Lancaster.

According to My Expert Midwife, research revealed Northampton, Twickenham and Croydon were the cities with the best access to fertility services, with low GP referral times and higher ratings from patients.

And Bradford, Hemel Hempstead and Leicester ranked the lowest with the longest waiting times and fewer staff.

Further research found Google searches for fertility clinics have doubled over the last five years.
