HUNDREDS of school children sung their hearts out at a special performance in Windsor to mark the final day of Schools’ Week.

More than 300 pupils took part in a live recording in front of their families along The Long Walk to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on May 27.

The catchy tune, called ‘The Long Walk’, saw audience members beaming as they watched the children belt it out.

This comes as part of a whole week activities across 25 schools in Windsor, which was organised by James Manwaring.

He said the whole of Schools' Week has been “brilliant”.

Mr Manwaring said: “There’s been so much going on in all of the different schools across Windsor, we’ve had kids cooking, a banquet, art, concerts, big sings and loads of things going on it’s been fantastic.”

He added the final group performance really brought of the children in the community together.

He said: “I really wanted to bring all the schools in Windsor together and we’ve got a whole mix of ages, which is the best part of it really, with everyone coming together and showing that community spirit.”

And this might not be the last Schools’ Week as Mr Manwaring said he would love to make it an annual event.

“I think we need a Schools’ Week every year and I think we need to bring schools together as it’s been amazing to see them all enjoy themselves and for them to feel like they’re part of something bigger, it’s fantastic.”

Emily Barden, co-writer of the song with the children, said: “The response has been magnificent, and the best thing is hearing a song written by young people written by young people it brings it a whole new life.

“I knew what it sounded like when I sung it for the demo, but actually to hear it with the 300 people that were meant to sing it, it’s fantastic.”

The pupils will also be performing their song over the Platinum Jubilee weekend.
