THERE are plenty of reasons why you shouldn’t litter, with protecting the environment being at the top of that particular list.
But another reason for not littering is that you could be hit with a hefty fine if caught -- much like these Slough residents after they were caught breaching the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Here’s a handful of locals who paid big fees for throwing their cigarette butts on the floor.

Laura Balasz, of Ledgers Road, Slough, dropped a cigarette butt outside a Hounslow address in April 13, 2021.
She was fined £120, made to pay a £34 victim charge and told to pay £250 in court costs.
The 34-year-old was sentenced at Ealing Magistrates’ Court on May 9, 2021.
Zia Chaudry, of Goodman Park, Slough, flicked his cigarette butt to the ground at a Torquay address in August 2021.
He was fined £220, made to pay a £34 victim surcharge and costs of £168.
The 39-year-old was sentenced at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on March 7, 2022.

Monique Luciano, of Horton Road, dropped the end of a cigarette outside a Marks and Spencer store in Ealing in August 2021.
She was fined £300 for this offence and was told to pay an extra £234 in court fees.
The 55-year-old was sentenced on April 7, 2022.
Jurgis Bupkus, of Marina Way, dropped a cigarette butt by a bus stop in Ealing in August 2021.
This act cost the man £220 in a fine and £234 in court fees.
Bupkus, 33, was sentenced on March 14.
Rhys Cunningham, of Hinton Road, dropped a cigarette outside a Starbucks in Ealing in October 2021.

Breaching the Environmental Protection Act 1990 cost Cunningham £354 in court fines and fees.
The 23-year-old was sentenced at Ealing Magistrates’ Court on May 9, 2022.
Marcin Zagorski, of White Lane, Slough left a cigarette outside a Polish Delicatessen in Greenford in July, 2021.
The 47-year-old was fined £220 and made to pay an extra £234 in court fees.
Zagorski was sentenced in February 2022.
Florica Daniela, of High Street, Slough, received the largest fine of this group of people, however.
The 32-year-old was fined £440 and made to pay £304 in court costs and fees.
They were also fined in February 2022.
