Abdul was pronounced dead on May 6, 2022, Reading Magistrates’ Court heard.
The accused-boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, did not enter a plea to the murder charge.
A plea was not entered for a second charge of possession of an offensive weapon, either.
The 15-year-old, who was wearing a grey shirt and cardigan, spoke only to confirm his name and age.
Magistrates' chair Paul Wassell remanded the boy into youth detention.
Reading Magistrates’ Court heard how the boy will appear at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, May 10.
A 17-year-old boy, who also cannot be named, appeared in the same court earlier on Monday, May 9.
He was charged with one count of affray -- a count he denied.
The 17-year-old will appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court again on May 18.
