A NEW restaurant in Maidenhead has been slapped with a two-out-of-five-star food hygiene rating.

Bardo Lounge, which opened on the High Street earlier this year, was inspected by Food Standards Agency on March 30.

Officers regularly inspect premises which sell or serve food, rating their food hygiene standards, management, and structural compliance.

Standards found that improvement was necessary for hygienic food handling, which includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage.

For cleanliness and the condition of the facilities and building, the cuisine was rated ‘Generally Satisfactory’.

This was based on the layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control.

And the third area the restaurant was assessed on was the management of food safety, to which it was rated ‘Good’.

It means that of Windsor and Maidenhead's 382 restaurants, cafes, and canteens with ratings, 310 (81 per cent) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.

The Bardo Lounge has been contacted for a comment.
