Students from Al Miftah, an Islamic supplementary weekend school, on Petersfield Avenue, hosted the evening for Iftaar at Wexham Court Parish Council on April 17.

The teenagers, aged between 13 to 17, raised £4,000 which will go towards Al Miftah’s International Food Parcel campaign.
Annissa Mohsin, trustee of Al Miftah, said: “We are so proud of this inspirational act of leadership and selflessness, and so pleased that these teenagers took their own initiative to give back to our global community.
“It was a wonderful evening with a surprise guest appearance by the mayor, and I’m sure the students learnt a lot from the experience.”

Maria Mirza, 16, said: “Choosing to do this event and organising it has been an absolute pleasure, especially with last minute catering issues and booking confirmations on the way to setting up the event, I can whole heartedly say I enjoyed every minute.
"I am immensely grateful for all of the support shown by our community who showed up and helped us in raising an amazing £4,000.
“It was an overwhelming feeling to have come to that amount by the end of the evening with donations still being sent through after the event.”
