DRIVERS in Slough are the third most prepared to switch to electric vehicles, according to a recent study.
With the government’s plan to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030, and the cost of fuel continuing to increase, car lease comparison site Moneyshake looked at the areas that are the most and least prepared for electric vehicles.
The study analysed the Department for Transport's vehicle licensing statistics to see where has the highest amount of licensed electric vehicles per the overall number of licensed vehicles in that area.

Research revealed 10.15 per cent of licensed vehicles in Slough are electric.
The study also saw that the average number of electric vehicles licensed in the UK is only 1.57 per cent of all vehicles, which means Slough is much higher than average.
Slough sits just below Watford, ranked first, and Stockport, in second, on the list.
Here’s the top ten places that are most prepared for the switch to EV:
- Watford
- Stockport
- Slough
- City of London
- Peterborough
- Isles of Scilly
- Westminster
- Swindon
- Hammersmith and Fulham
- Milton Keynes
We also asked our readers on Facebook whether they would buy an electric car.
Ana Maria Barfa said: "Got one for the past four years and it was a good investment."
Robert Macmillan added he can't wait to buy an electric vehicle after he paid £90 for a tank of fuel the other week.
Despite Slough being ranked so high in the list, some readers said they wouldn't buy one.
Praveen Velugupati said he wouldn't buy one in the "current situation".
He said: "Need more chargers and infrastructure built around, the cost of electric cars are too expensive anyway.
"Probably all manufacturers also need to work out one type of charger outlet than everyone coming out with their own versions, keep it simple for the end user."

Eben Lovatt, CEO of Moneyshake, said: “There’s no doubt that electric vehicles are better for the environment but there is still a way to go.
“Combustion engines still make up the majority of the market, but we have seen an increase in interest for people looking to lease electric cars.
“Electric car leasing gives you access to a greener vehicle and cheap running costs.
“With major brands such as BMW, Audi and Nissan creating their own versions of these green vehicles, and the cost of fuel continuing to increase, now is a good time to switch to an electric vehicle."
