The business gathered more than 400 Easter eggs in total.

Funeral director Rachael Palmer, who organised the collection with her colleague Gurdeep Sandhu, said: “The response was absolutely amazing with people and businesses being so kind and generous and it really does show what a wonderful place Slough can be.

“I chose to help out Home-Start this Easter to support the great work they do in the community and to put a smile on people’s faces.

“Given all the challenges that people of our town are facing right now it was wonderful to see such public spirit at work and to help such a worthwhile charity.”

Ms Palmer thanked the community for their generosity including Slough Masons, the Herschel Arms pub and Kingways URC Church.

Alison Bowers, office coordinator at Home-Start Slough, said the families have been blown away by the donations.

She said: "Easter eggs for these families is a huge deal especially with the cost of living crisis there are more people needing out support.

"For some families they are making a choice between heating their house of feeding their children.

"Rachael managed to turn this all around in two weeks and we are grateful for her support."
