PASSENGERS are now able to use pay-as-you-go with contactless as a new machine is installed at Windsor & Eton Central.
Any contactless payment including bank cards, Apple Pay, and Android Pay can be used by touching the card or mobile device on the yellow reader located at ticket gatelines.
The pay-as-you-go with contactless went live yesterday (Monday, March 28) and is a part of Great Western Railway’s (GWR) extension of the scheme.
Pay as you go with contactless, which already exists on GWR and Transport for London Rail services between London Paddington and Reading, has also been expanded to Henley-on-Thames alongside the Windsor branch lines.

Customers must then remember to always tap out with the same card or mobile device once they’ve reached their destination.
Royal Borough council leader Andrew Johnson and deputy leader Samantha Rayner said: “The extension of contactless payments to Windsor & Eton Central means even greater flexibility and ease of access to the historic heart of our borough for our many visitors and residents travelling to and from the towns.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for people to visit our borough and enjoy all that it has to offer, helping our local economic recovery post-pandemic in the process. Making travel easier and more convenient in this way supports this work.

“In addition to this, Cllr Rayner and I are due to meet with senior GWR representatives shortly to discuss further improvements which can be made to the Windsor-Slough service. This forms part of our broader agenda of improving transport connectivity across RBWM and especially Windsor.”
Pay as you go with contactless is expected to be extended to the Marlow branch line in the coming weeks.
