A DEVELOPER of the major 429 flats scheme in Maidenhead town centre has revealed when they expect the development to be completed.
The 3.5-acre site between Queen Street and Broadway, known as The Landing, is currently being redeveloped into flats, shops, car parking, office space, and public realm after it was given planning permission in 2019.
After a shaky start and hold-ups to the development, ground was finally broken last December to deliver the first phase, which is being carried out by contractor JJ Rhatigan & Company, to erect the 429 flats, six retail units, and a majority of the public realm.
Speaking at a Maidenhead town forum, Victoria Manston, development manager at HUB – the developer of the scheme – revealed phase one is expected to be completed in February 2024.

The public realm works at the site, where people can work east to west across the site, is expected to be delivered by October of the same year.
Currently, the development can be seen popping over the hoarding erected around the site. Ms Marston said Rhatigan is “steaming ahead” with the development to make sure it will be delivered on time.
She said: “We are very pleased that progress has started on-site and that the scheme is coming to fruition and should make an excellent addition to the town centre.”
Once completed, all of the flats will be for rent and will be owned and managed by Get Living, which is one of the biggest build-to-rent operators in the UK.

For the retail units, Ms Marston said HUB envisages two restaurants, two light food and beverage cafes, and two stores, but is subject to change.
However, she said it was “slightly early” in the build programme to give any definite retailers and restaurants that will move into the site once completed. An update on this could be given next year.
The meeting took place on Thursday, March 17.
