THERE were smiles all round at Slough’s Happy Space festival as families enjoyed a day of activities and entertainment.
The event, which is part of the LOVE Slough initiative, saw people flooding in throughout the afternoon to take part with the International Day of Happiness celebrations.
This feel-good festival, organized by Slough Happiness Collective, took place in the former B&M store in the Queensmere Shopping Centre on March 20.
Linda Tabor-Thomas, Community lead of Slough Happiness Collective, said: “The festival was absolutely amazing, it was full of fun from start to finish and kept people smiling and laughing all day long.
“We thought the space was going to be too big for us but it just kept filling up throughout the afternoon and it stayed busy which was great.”
Linda added there was lots of positive feedback from visitors on the day.
Families and shoppers were entertained by performances from Innerverse, The Dhol Collective and Slough Community Youth Soul Choir (SCYSC).
And they were also treated random act of kindness gifts.
People also contributed to writing and singing a new ‘Song for Slough’, composed by Rebecca Richardson, joined in the Recycling Rap with Mike the Hyype.
They were also treated to a poem about looking after our town, which was read by Tirza from Slough Anti-Litter Society, before reciting Smiling by Spike Milligan.
The arts and crafts activities offered included making hearts and flowers, wrapping seed bombs, painting rocks, designing postcards and making Slough heroes and tins of happiness from recycled art.

The younger crowd also enjoyed an interactive augmented reality experience from Immersive Computing Labs and developing a soundscape with Resource Productions.
Singing and dancing was on display with Dhol Collective, Salsa Calientita.
The day was rounded off with a Tonglen meditation to reflect on the situation in Ukraine and all those suffering across the globe.
Jake Orr, creative producer of HOME Slough, said: "To be able to hold an event like Happy Space on World Happiness Day was especially fitting and the enthusiasm of all the volunteers and participants in helping to spread happiness and cheer on Sunday embodies our LOVE Slough Festival which is for the community by the community.
"We hope that the public will continue to support the rest of our free events happening throughout March."
