The store is said to be moving into the former Maplin unit, according to councillor Gurch Singh.
He tweeted: "If you’re into crafts (or bonnet making) you are in for a treat to a new Craft Mega Store opening in time for Easter."
He confirmed the planning application has been submitted in order to allow Hobbycraft put up new signs to advertise the new store, made and installed by Sapphire Creative Signmaking.
There is currently no set opening date.
