SEGRO has got the go-ahead to develop the first multi-storey industrial development on the Slough Trading Estate.
Known as SEGRO V-Park Leigh Road, the scheme represents the next phase in growing the trading estate and will support an anticipated 50 to 70 occupiers.
And it will provide almost 400 jobs in the area.
A brownfield site will transform into what will become Slough Trading Estate’s tallest building.

James Craddock, managing director of Thames Valley at SEGRO, said Slough Trading Estate is a hugely popular choice for businesses to be based.
He said: “Throughout its 100-year history, the Slough Trading Estate has continually evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of the companies that call it their home.
“With a lack of available land to expand outwards to accommodate this demand, this innovative development marks an important step-change in how we can intensify space vertically to facilitate investment, employment opportunities, business rate contributions and economic growth in Slough.”
Mr Craddock added it also ensures the trading estate remains the long-term home for a diverse range of businesses and sectors.
The building will feature a green roof and solar panels to generate power.
And more than 10 per cent of car parking spaces will have electric vehicle charging points, along with a rainwater harvesting facility.
It will include meeting rooms, co-working areas as well as a café and welfare facilities for showering and changing.

The development will become a hub for small and start-up businesses.
SEGRO is also planning to help customers by hosting a series of business support events with advice on finance, recruitment, innovation and legislation.
It will also create a skills and training programme to enable the community to benefit from the scheme.
This includes work experience, career talks and site visits for students and customers advertising job vacancies locally.
